Three years ago, Lumina joined with the Corporation for a Skilled Workforce (CSW) to identify and invite key partners to join us in a frank discussion about the problems posed by our nation’s diverse and fragmented credentialing ecosystem.
We heard from thousands of individuals, including 121 cosponsors, and our collective goal was to call attention to the issues, generate a dialogue and develop a plan for action to ensure credentialing could better meet the demands for talent and individual opportunity.
The resulting effort, dubbed Connecting Credentials, became a valuable shared space for bringing people, ideas, and initiatives together. The Connecting Credentials Action Plan provides a clear, compelling picture of the future of credentialing and specific ways that organizations can successfully advance the credentialing conversation as a national priority.
Given this success, all participating organizations are better positioned to embark on new phases of work that extend far beyond the campaign. Collectively, we have moved from the case-making phase into implementation.
As such, the Connecting Credentials campaign has reached its logical conclusion and successfully achieved its goals. CSW has agreed to maintain this website, preserving an important part of history and continuing to give access to the resources created during the campaign.
Lumina and CSW remained deeply committed to this movement. Lumina continues to prioritize credentialing change and will support it through both our grantmaking and convening work. CSW will launch a center called The Competency Project to continue growing work focused on competencies and credentials in the new economy.
